What Is the Difference Between Original Cork and WoolFlex Clogs?Updated 2 months ago

Many customers ask about the difference between our Original Cork Collection and our WoolFlex Collection. Both feature premium wool uppers, generous toe boxes, and exceptional comfort, but they offer different levels of support, flexibility, cushioning, and intended use.

Original 108 Cork Clog

The Original 108 Cork Clog is our most popular style and has become the benchmark for Stegmann comfort.

It is ideal as:

  • A supportive house shoe
  • An office clog
  • Everyday indoor wear
  • Quick errands and casual outings

Because it features a full wool upper, many customers find it exceptionally comfortable to wear barefoot.

Construction

The Original 108 uses our traditional cork-latex footbed with built-in shaping and support.

Support & Feel

  • Medium arch support
  • Medium metatarsal support
  • Firm, supportive feel
  • Minimal cushioning compared to WoolFlex
  • Least amount of flex among our clog constructions

The wool-covered footbed provides additional comfort, while the cork-latex foundation offers long-term support and stability.

Best For

Choose the Original 108 if you prefer:

  • A traditional supportive clog
  • A firmer underfoot feel
  • Proven everyday comfort
  • A classic Stegmann experience

WoolFlex Clog

The WoolFlex Collection features a polyurethane (PU) sole and offers a different comfort experience while maintaining the supportive characteristics Stegmann is known for.

Construction

The WoolFlex uses a specially shaped polyurethane footbed designed to provide enhanced cushioning and flexibility.

Support & Feel

  • Most pronounced arch support
  • Most pronounced metatarsal support
  • Enhanced toe support
  • More cushioning than any other Stegmann construction
  • Greater flexibility in the toe box than the Original Cork

While the toe area is more flexible, the midfoot remains highly supportive and stable.

Additional Benefits

  • Excellent shock absorption
  • Helps reduce pressure on joints
  • Weather-resistant polyurethane sole
  • Easy-to-clean outsole

The WoolFlex construction is frequently recommended by podiatrists because of its combination of support and cushioning.

Best For

Choose WoolFlex if you prefer:

  • Maximum cushioning
  • Enhanced arch support
  • Greater toe flexibility
  • Additional comfort for sensitive feet and joints
  • A weather-resistant sole

Which Style Has More Support?

Both constructions provide excellent support, but they do so differently.

Original Cork

  • Medium arch support
  • Medium metatarsal support
  • Firmer, more structured feel

WoolFlex

  • Strongest arch support
  • Strongest metatarsal support
  • Most cushioning
  • More flexibility in the forefoot

Many customers with foot discomfort, joint pain, or sensitivity prefer WoolFlex because of its shock-absorbing characteristics. It is our most recommended by Foot Health Professionals.

Are Both Styles Good for Wide Feet?

Yes.

Both the Original Cork and WoolFlex feature a generously shaped toe box that accommodates a wide range of foot shapes.

Many customers with:

  • Wide feet
  • Bunions
  • Hammer toes
  • General foot sensitivity

find both constructions comfortable.

Which Style Should I Choose?

Choose Original Cork if you want:

  • A classic Stegmann clog
  • Firm, supportive comfort
  • A traditional cork-latex footbed
  • Minimal sole flex

Choose WoolFlex if you want:

  • Maximum cushioning
  • Stronger arch support
  • More flexibility in the toe area
  • Additional shock absorption

Both styles provide exceptional comfort and durability, and many long-time Stegmann customers own both depending on how and where they plan to wear them.
